Vanessa Soodeen

is Irish -Trinidadian living in Spain. She is a graduate in Psychology and Philosophy (Trinity College, Ireland) and certified in Psychosynthesis (PS Avalon, UK). She is the co-author (with Trinidadian writer Elspeth Duncan) of the Theatrical play 'The House that Jack Built' (Trinidad - 1996), author and illustrator of her first children's book 'Mamás Mías' (Spain 2004) and has been working professionally as a published illustrator and Graphic Designer for the last ten years. She has exhibited her artwork in solo and group exhibitions in Trinidad & Tobago, England and Ireland. She has worked as a Creative Art Designer for an independent Television programme (SUN TV, Trinidad) and continues to work in multimedia with digital video creating Video art pieces as well as Documentaries.



Lyn Knott

Lyn Knott is a figurative illustrator who works traditionally in watercolour & pencil, specialising in books for children. She has been freelance for over 19 years and has produced work for a wide variety of publishers worldwide. Lyn is the artist for Joanne's book Digger's Diner.

Lyn lives in Southampton, England and is married with 3 teenage daughters who have provided much inspiration for her drawings over the years. She works from a studio at the bottom of her garden.

Local artist Andre Quincy Pierre, aged 26 says he is "an aspiring cartoonist and illustrator". Andre rendered his Digger's Diner (page 29) and shared his knowledge with us as well.

Katie Shears McConnachie was born in Los Angeles, California. With no formal training she worked at Hanna Barbera Productions for 8 years painting special effects for cartoons i.e. Flintstones, Scooby -Doo and many others.

In 1985 she decided she needed a change and sailed from Florida to Antigua on the yacht “Phantom”, a C&C 66. It was decided that Antigua was the perfect location for a new start.

In 1986 she started a Graphic Design Studio and opened numerous Art Galleries on the island. She now works as a freelance artist painting murals, illustrating children’s books and drawing original works of art with Prismacolor Pencils. Her selections of limited edition prints are sold throughout art galleries on the island.

She is also the illustrator for Joanne's book Ibis Stew? Oh No!
