"We got the book two years ago
when my son, Christopher, was 6 years old. My daughter,
Aliya, was 4 years old at the time and a little too young for
it. When I brought it out again this afternoon, Christopher said,
"I love that book! Remember when we used to read it
over and over?".
I read it for them and asked them what they thought of it.
Christopher said "It's a good book." and Aliya said
"I think Lizzie is nice. I think she's fun and if I
had her as a friend, she'd have good ideas." I asked
them if they enjoyed the story and they both said "Yes."
When I asked them what the story was about, they said,
"It's about a girl from Scotland who came to Trinidad
because her mother is from Trinidad. She had a nice time with her friend, Alex."
Aliya's favorite part of the story was when they saw the turtles on the beach because it sounded like fun.
Christopher said he liked the part about the steel pan because
he likes our culture. Christopher and Aliya Ross-Dick are
now 8 and 6 respectively."

"My friends loved the books (I took back as gifts) - they especially liked
the Caribbean flavour of the stories. I never had to explain any of the
stories - you have kept cultural references universal enough that everyone
can understand and relate to."

I liked Sally's Way because
Sally's determination helped her to accomplish a
seemingly impossible task. I thoroughly enjoyed
the Trini lingo used by the author, since I
seldom get books written with Trini dialect.
Overall Sally's Way is excellent.

My seventeen month old daughter, Jessie, loves me to read
"Go Barefoot" with her. With only one or two lines per page she remains
focused and interested throughout the story. She loves the
colourful, playful pictures like the
singing trees and the waving moon. She joins in by copying the actions of
the little girl and especially enjoys going upside down. The story is happy
and simple and always leaves a smile on both our faces!
